Sector 41 does not even boast of the basic facilities of proper roads, cleanliness & securityBy Riti, Section GN
Over 15,000 residents of one of the largest sectors of the city are being forced to live in miserable conditions, thanks to the authorities
Having grown by leaps and bounds, Sector 41 today does not even boast some of the basic facilities of proper roads, cleanliness and security. Add to this the jhuggi clusters that have sprung up in vacant plots through the sector, its common boundary with village Aghapur, and the picture of chaos is complete. Clearly, one look at the surroundings of this colony is enough to give one an idea that it's not on the priority list of the authorities. And, over the years, no amount of shouting or pleading by residents and welfare associations alike has helped. Residents who have constructed their houses putting in huge resources and efforts are visibly not comfortable. Says K.L. Bansal, president of the Resident Welfare Association (RWA) and resident of F-70, "We should be separated from the village area by a wall, roads should be properly constructed, drains should be covered and cleaned and water supply pipes should be checked for cleanliness and leakages regularly, and last but not the least the security should be provided to us so that we can rest in peace in our homes!" He adds, "Solutions to all these problems can be found provided the authorities listen to us and not make us go from pillar to post to get our grievances heard." The list of problems described by the RWA chief doesn't end there. Laments S.K. Sudan, also part of the RWA and resident of J-172, "Parks in the locality too aren't in a good shape. One rarely sees the gardener in the park to maintain the parks. And then there is hardly any water supply in the park but horticulture department seems to be blissfully ignorant about all this." If condition of the parks is something of a bother, dirty roads and improper garbage disposal too isn't something the residents feel happy about. Says Bansal, "The H-block adjacent to village Aghapur is in a mess. Garbage is collected privately but the civic agency does nothing to remove it. Recently, the tender for the garbage disposal ended and NA has made no effort to renew it!" Adds another resident of the area, "The open nullah carrying loads of sewage and toxic waste which flows through five blocks of the sector stinks. The dredging operation is needed more frequently and a more permanent solution to this problem could be to cover it." With no boundary wall between village Agahpur and blocks H, J and I, the villagers have free access to the sector and they bring in their cattle and livestock for grazing. They also defecate in the open and soil the parks and roadside. The rickshaw pullers park their cycle rickshaws on the street and on the vacant plots." Source:Noida Plus August29th,2008.
