The Noida Board has approved the satellite imaging of the village areas to resolve the teething problems of the abadi (residential portions of villages) issue facing them. "The whole project report would now be sent to the state government and once it is okayed by them, we will start the ground level work," said Noida Authority (NA) CEO, Mohin der Singh.

Teams of NA officials and villagers will be sent to survey the abadi areas of every single village.

Video films will be prepared and still photographs will also be taken of the villages. And once the entire area is demarcated, a peripheral road around each village will be constructed so that there is no question of further encroachment of land.

"We want a permanent solution to this ever-rising controversial issue, and it can be achieved only by having satellite images of the area," said the CEO.

There are 81 villages in Noida, out of which 54 are totally inside Noida, while the rest have mixed lands (i.e land falling either in Noida and Greater Noida, or Noida and Ghaziabad). The satellite imaging will be done of the 54 villages inside Noida.

According to NA, more than 300 acres of NA land is in the clutches of encroachers in various areas of the township.

"The problem is more pronounced in rural areas where it is seen that even though we have paid the compensation for the land acquired, the villagers encroach upon the land and then even go to court claiming that the land is theirs," said a senior NA official.
