Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Greater Noida Authority officials held a meeting recently to discuss the detailed project report (DPR) for Metro Rail between Noida and Greater Noida.

Greater Noida chief executive officer Mukul Singhal said, "DPR details were discussed. We want the project to be implemented at the earliest. The total cost of 29-km project is around Rs 4,000 crore. It will take a few more meetings to resolve the queries from both the sides before approval is given and implementation started."

The DMRC feels this stretch will not fetch enough passengers and to make the project viable, it has asked for commercial space at some stations. Moreover, while the Authority wants it to be an extension of Noida Metro, the DMRC wants this line to be a separate track and passengers will have to change the train from Noida.

The Authority had asked the DMRC to consider running Metro at ground level along Expressway wherever land was available.

The DMRC told the Authority officials that only elevated track will be feasible. It has also sought land for depot.
